Sixth Annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition

Sixth Annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition is currently accepting submissions. The reputation and diversity of the Poetry Selection Committee makes this competition highly regarded and attracts many established and emerging poets.

Selected poems will be published in the Festival Chapbook as well as on-line at the Festival web site. Festival winners will receive an award of $100 and will be invited to read their poems at the Sixth Annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival which will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, North Carolina.

GENERAL RULES:

Deadline

Entries received by Friday, January 31, 2014, midnight (EST) will be considered for selection.

Submission Requirements
(*) All entries MUST be submitted via www.nazimhikmetpoetryfestival.org/submission.php
(*) All poems submitted to the Festival must be unpublished, original works.
(*) Each poet must submit three poems. Entries with fewer than three poems will not be considered.
(*) The poems should be in English.
(*) The selected poems will be published on-line at the Festival web site as well as in a chapbook.
(*) The proceeds from the chapbook sales will be used to support future competitions.
(*) Winning poems may appear in promotional publications.
(*) By submitting their poems, the poets grant NHPF all rights to publish the poems at these venues.
(*) The poets will retain copyrights of their poems.
(*) The poets are allowed to submit their poems to other competitions. However, they are expected to withdraw these submissions from other competitions if their work is listed among the winning poems of the Nâzım Hikmet Poetry Competition.
(*) You must own all publication rights (i.e., the work must never have been published in a manner in which you gave away your rights). You generally do not give away rights when the work is published on the Internet. You may, as when you are not paid, retain all rights whenever you have published the work in a conventional way.
(*) Entries flaunting degrading sexual and physical violence or espousing extreme and/or violent political views will not be considered for judging at the discretion of the Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival.

Selection & Notification

(*) Submitted poems will be evaluated anonymously.
(*) The contact information provided by the poets will not be disclosed to other individuals or organizations.
