This symposium is organized with the collaboration of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of İzmir University and the Graduate School of Social Sciences of İstanbul Commerce University. The specific aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for a debate and exchange of opinions regarding the various global opportunities and problems and to evaluate the recent global financial crises and the role of emerging economies in the near future. In this symposium, changes in the balance of economic power caused by different national and international economic and political dynamics will be broadly reviewed. In this framework, political and economic issues related to power shifting from North America and Europe to Asia and Latin America, new emerging economies such as China, India, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Russia and Turkey will be handled. Specific topics may focus upon such issues as: globalization and/or regionalization; political and economic reforms and democratization in developing countries; structural changes and power shifting in international financial system; sustainable development in the international economic and political relations; conflictual issues in the international economic relations; policies of the global and regional organizations and their insufficiencies; new business models in emerging market economies and capital flows to these economies; the role of civil societies in the future of the international economic relations; information technologies and international economic relations; and the role of energy security in 21st century World Order.
We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the undergraduate and postgraduate students who are interested in the subject. During the symposium sessions will be held for the students.
