1. What is the Challenge about?

The World You Like Challenge is a part of the public awareness campaign A world you like. With a climate you like, run by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (hereafter mentioned as “the organiser”).

It is a contest to reward existing pioneering low-carbon initiatives across the European Union, which make a real contribution to tackling climate change and can improve the quality of life, for example through lower energy bills, more comfortable homes, cleaner air, better public transport and less traffic congestion.

The launch date of the contest is 11 February 2013. The contest will be held in three phases:

  • A submission phase of three months to collect the contest entries. The organiser holds the right to extend this entry period.
  • A public voting phase of two months, starting upon the closure of the submission phase, to establish a top 10 of submissions on a European level and for each EU Member State. The organiser holds the right to extend this entry period.
  • A jury phase, after the closure of the public voting phase, in which a jury will select the winners out of the top 10 listings established through public voting.
