The applications to the graduate program in mathematics will be evaluated in three stages.

Preliminary evaluation: Each candidate’s test scores (TOEFL, GRE or ALES), undergraduate transcripts, recommendation letters and statement of purpose will be reviewed. If the candidate meets the minimal requirements, she/he will be considered for the next stage.
Written exam: A written exam will be held. The exam will concern the math courses that are covered in the first two years of our undergraduate program. (See also the course descriptions.) You should expect very basic questions such as definition questions or simple examples related to fundamental concepts. If a candidate succeeds in the written exam, she/he will be considered for the third stage.
Interview: General questions will be posed to the candidate to assess the intellectual ability, motivation and purpose of the candidate.

The written exam and interview stages will be performed in the morning and afternoon of the same day. The written exam and interview dates are April 27, Friday for early admissions and July 6, Friday for regular admissions. The preliminary evaluation will be performed by a committee consisting of faculty members in mathematics. The successful candidates will be invited for the written exam and interview stages.
