THE 8TH CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL TEST COMMISION
July 3-5, 2012
July 2, 2012 (Pre Conference Workshops)
University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands
It is our great pleasure and privilege to invite you to join us at the 8th ITC Conference to be held in 2012
in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Many of the past ITC conferences were held in Europe. After the very
successful conference in Hong Kong in 2010, we will be returning to Europe in 2012. We encourage
delegates from all over the world to attend. Psychological and Educational testing is a global
undertaking.
The 8th ITC Conference in Amsterdam takes place 10 years after the ITC Winchester conference and is a
revisit of theWinchester conference topic. After 10 years we will return to the theme of Modern
Advances in Assessment, with a particular focus on Digital Technology. In the last 10 years, technology
has rapidly moved forward and has permanently affected Testing. The conference wants to offer the
2012-state of this art and an outlook to the future.
Amsterdam is the place where you will find Van Gogh’s potato eaters and his sunflowers, a lot of bicycles
and tulips, but also over more than 60 years of Dutch psychometrics. Psychological and Educational
testing is a strong field in The Netherlands. The conference will be organized with the support of the
University of Amsterdam, founded in 1632 as one of the oldest Dutch universities. The Royal Tropical
Institute (Koninklijk Instituut van de Tropen) is the venue of the conference and is situated close to the
center of the city. Easy public transport connects from here to many interesting spots in the city. The
city has over 150 canals and is full of museums, art galleries, theatres, concert halls, and many lovely
parks, serving as the inhabitants’ gardens in summer. The city is known for its world famous music,
opera, theatre and dance companies, as well as many internationally recognized visual artists.
The summer of 2012 will be the summer of several important conferences, among which the large
International Congress of Psychology in Cape Town, South Africa (20-27 July, 2012). The Olympics in
London are held from 27 July – 12 August, 2012. Make your plans and start off with the 8th ITC
conference in Amsterdam from 3-5 July!
We look forward to meeting you in Amsterdam in 2012.
Prof. Marise Ph. Born and Dr Arne V.A.M. Evers, Co-Chairs of the Organizing Committee
