STEM, “Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics ler is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEM education is shaped by the interest and life experiences of the students and teachers and is defined as the teaching of special knowledge and skills in the discipline by integrating with at least one other discipline. STEM Education ‘s is based on the application in Turkey is not only due to the encouragement of the use of Turkish as the language of science but also to take learning centers in the differentiation and Turkey context of the popularization of-centric approach to science in the United States needs.

This standard, called STEM in the United States, is used as the integration of mathematics and science courses at school level, and is also understood as the teaching of engineering and technology with in-class and out-of-class activities. For example, US science education standards can include the nature of engineering and engineering and the addition of mathematical modeling to the common discipline mathematics curriculum.

Why do we need STEM?

STEM education aims to meet and strengthen the need for manpower for economic progress and leadership, and it can also be used as a means of ensuring equality of opportunity in social peace and education.

In the 21st Century Learning Report published in the US, nine key learning skills were included in three key areas. These three key fields;
1. Knowledge and Communication Skills
2. Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
3. Interpersonal Communication and Collaboration Skills
