Stiftung Mercator and Istanbul Policy Center at Sabancı Universityinvite young academics and professionals with an interest in Turkey to apply for a new fellowship program that aims to strengthen academic, political andsocial ties between Turkey and Germany, as well as Turkey and Europe. The program is based on the premise that in an increasingly globalizedworld, acquisition of knowledge and an exchange of ideas and people are the preconditions for meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Mercator – IPC Fellowships are available to outstanding young academics and professionals who are at the beginning of their career and workin one of three thematic areas:
-| EU/German-Turkish relations
-| Climate change
The fellows will be expected to work on academic orpracticalprojects at Istanbul Policy Center (IPC). A PhD is preferred but notrequiredfor this position if the applicant’s work experience and expertise meettheprogram requirements and the jury’s satisfaction. Fellowships are available for 6 to 12 months and predominantly, but not exclusively, granted to applicantsfrom Germany. Applicants cannot apply for fellowships to fund their PhD dissertations.
The 2012 fellowships begin September 1, 2012 and the deadline for applications is May 15, 2012.
