The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional & Urban Policy, the Committee of the Regions and the Regional Studies Association are inviting postgraduates and early career researchers interested in European Cohesion Policy to participate in the 11th OPEN DAYS 2013 – European Week of Regions and Cities that will be held on 7-10 October 2013 in Brussels, Belgium, through the OPEN DAYS Master Class and Early Career Poster Competition.
The Open Days is a networking platform bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe and beyond, providing thousands of local, regional, national and European decision-makers and experts with a marketplace for exchanging and discussing projects and issues related to regional and local development.
It offers participants an opportunity to showcase their capacity for creating growth and jobs and implementing European Union cohesion policy.
Together with the EU institutions, more than 200 regions and cites will contribute to a programme of 100 seminars, workshops, debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities for around 6,000 participants.
OPEN DAYS Master Class
PhD postgraduates and early career researchers, having been awarded their PhD after April 2008, and whose thesis or subsequent research is related to EU Cohesion Policy are invited to apply.

Applicants should submit the application form via email to [email protected]
Only two finalists per Member State (and Croatia) will be selected based on the relevance of their research, but also on the identified impact that attendance at the Master Class would have on their professional development. A small number of non-EU participants (up to 15) could also participate.
Selected finalists will be given access to other OPEN DAYS events such plenary sessions and social events.
