The workshop will be organized by İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi, İLKE İlim Kültür Eğitim Derneği, İktisadi Girişim ve İş Ahlakı Derneği and İlmi Etüdler Derneği under the title of “Islamic Economics and the Market”. The workshop, in which the importance and meaning of the market in Islamic economics will be discussed, is expected to host experts from different universities around the world.

In the first workshop that was held on March 2-3, 2014 with the title “Basic Concepts and Thoughts”, studies on Islamic economics were evaluated and ideas about how the area of “Islamic economics” should be framed were debated. In this workshop, it was also specified that in order for “Islamic Economics” to become a worldwide economic system, studies and theories about micro and macroeconomics needed to be produced.

In accordance with this aim, the second workshop is planned to revolve around the topic market, which is a basic and symbolic concept of the current financial system. Thus, the concept of market as one of the pillars of the capitalist financial system, or its institution, is intended to be discussed from the point of view of Islamic economics. Some topics that may be discussed in the contents of this workshop are listed below:

Debates on socialism in Islamic economics
Welfare, distribution and justice
