Google Science Fair 2012
This is way beyond baking-soda-and-vinegar volcanoes made out of papier mache, or spindly coat-hanger models of the solar system. This is the Google Science Fair. This year’s grand prize winner, Brittany Wenger (USA), looked at ways to diagnose breast cancer through artificial neural networks and the power of the cloud. She won a trip to the Galapagos Archipelago made famous by Darwin, and a $50K Google scholarship for further education.
