Mekte Girls / Girls Can STEM in Science and Technology EM project, which was conducted under the partnership of GEN-DER Collective Society and United States Embassy in Ankara, aims to eliminate inequality in gender, science, technology, engineering and mathematics in industrialized societies and especially to direct girls to positive sciences. While encouraging girls to produce in these areas, the project encourages them to think innovative, and adopts a method that aims to take the first steps for a learning-based learning life in the project.
In the first period of the project, in 2017-2018 period, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) applications were performed for girls in high schools in 40 different points in 21 provinces. During this period, the project carried out training and workshops that led female students to science, engineering, mathematics and technology in schools in Ankara, Adıyaman, Amasya, Bartın, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Erzurum, Hatay, Kırşehir, Muğla, Nevşehir, Niğde, Sivas, Şanlıurfa and Yozgat. .
Meetings were held with female scientists working in the field of STEM to enable students to diversify their options and to see that their profession is accessible when they plan their careers and future.
Girls Children / Girls in Science and Technology STEM project aims to provide an education approach that gives technical knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, prepares students for professional life and gives priority to the needs and skills of modern business life.
The project, which will begin its second term with 9th grade girls, will continue to search for “girls moving at the speed of light” by renewing itself with new cities, new schools and new girls.
