Dear prospective participants,
On behalf of the Foreign Policy and International Relations Club of Middle East Technical University, it is our utmost honour to welcome you all to the ninth annual session of the European Union Simulation in Ankara (EUROsimA), which will be held at Middle East Technical University between 23rd and 28th April 2013.
Last year, we had the opportunity to welcome more than 250 participants from over 20 countries. This year, we aim to meet even more people so as to create an environment where young people, with young minds, from different cultures and ideas will have the chance to interact with each other.
With the great efforts of both the Academic and the Organization teams of EUROsimA 2013, we are now proud to invite you to an unforgettable event; a great opportunity for an high-level academic experience that is based on the very nature of the European Union which the prime ministers, ministers, members of the Parliament and Eurocrats would shape the future of their continent.
EUROsimA 2013 provides a wide range of issues; each and every one of them bearing prominence in today’s European political atmosphere, which is to be observed and directed by our participants. Consistently, the prospective delegates will be shaping the future of European Union while touching upon these very current issues, formulated by our Academic Team. In this framework, EUROsimA 2013 adopts “Europe 2020” as its main theme, which includes a very comprehensive set of agenda items with a special emphasis on foreign relations, economic development, sustainable growth and policy-making of the European Union.
Within this academic environment, the relevant bodies of the European Union such as the European Parliament and sub-bodies of the Council of the European Union will be present. As a continuation, EUROsimA 2013 will have “ordinary legislative procedure,” namely “co-decision procedure,” between European Parliament and Economic and Financial Affairs Council in order to make the academic setting as similar as possible. This year, EUROsimA hosts a new council configuration, namely “Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council,” to which our Academic team attaches huge importance since the Conference itself is organised by a youth organisation for the youth. Furthermore, in order to make the prospective delegates feel the atmosphere of the future as much as they could, the Academic Team is also proud to present the “Future European Union-NATO Summit” where the future members of the European Union and of NATO will discuss the prominent global issues posing challenges in this environment of future.
Apart from a comprehensive academic setting, EUROsimA 2013 also offers its prospective participants a fabulous pre-conference trip to Istanbul, the city that does not sleep, between 23rd and 24th April. In the great historical atmosphere of Istanbul, our participants will have unforgettable times and memories; thus, getting relaxed and amazed before the beginning of the conference itself. During the very conference in Ankara, the Organization Team will be doing its best to create a comfortable and proper environment for the committee sessions. In addition, the Team also offers joyful social events at every night of the stay in Ankara for utmost fun.
By the end of the Conference, all of our participants will have the very willing to come back to Turkey for another session of EUROsimA, in the following year. We confidently invite you to be part of this amazing academic and social experience.
