19th IPA WORLD CONFERENCE 2014, ISTANBUL
“ACCESS TO PLAY”

The 19th International Play Association Triennial World Conference will be held between 20-23 May 2014 with the theme of “Access to Play”, hosted by Active Living Association. The aim of the conference is to put the child’s right to play, which is already laid down by law, on the public agenda in Turkey, to make this issue considered as a right and to clear the way for new decision making about the child’s right to play and academic studies.

We invite you to submit papers within the scope of three conference sub themes (please see below) which will open a new door for a child’s right to play.

Sub Themes:

1. Why Play? (Child’s Right to Play, Play and Education, Just Play, Play and Health, What is Play? Future of Play? Play for Everyone, Playing with parents, playworkers, siblings, friends etc.)

2. Play Spaces (Planning of Playgrounds, Designing of Playgrounds, Playground Equipment, Maintenance of Playgrounds, Management of Playgrounds and Providing Sustainability, Playing Without Playground, Play Everywhere))

3. Play and Media (Written and Visual Media, Social Media, etc.)

Abstract Submission Guideline:
* Texts must be in English or Turkish
* Maximum 250 words
* Minimum 3, maximum 5 keywords
* Abstracts must be in PDF format
* Abstracts must contain only text; images and graphics/diagrams must not be placed in text
* The maximum number of submitted papers or abstracts accepted per author (either single or co-author) is two

Abstract Evaluation Criteria:
* Currency
* Novelty
* Contribution to research/practice/theory or knowledge
* Relevance to themes and topics
* Clarity of method

Important Dates:

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 20 October 2013
Evaluation of abstracts and informing participant candidates: 20 November 2013
