As the Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University (BŞEU) and the European Metaheuristics Community (EU/ME) we welcome you to the 15th EU/ME Workshop, titled “Metaheuristics and Engineering”, which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on March 24-25, 2014. The main objective of the workshop is to bring together researchers and engineers devoting their work to optimization, metaheuristic algorithms, and applications of metaheuristic algorithms to engineering problems.
Optimization is an important research area which is used in several disciplines. Nowadays, metaheuristic algorithms are widely used for the solution/approximation of complex optimization problems. Studies using metaheuristic algorithms cover modification of algorithms in different optimization problems, improvement of existing algorithms or generating a new algorithm inspired from natural phenomena.
This meeting will be much more than an ordinary workshop. Eminent researchers from all over the world working on metaheuristics and applications of metaheuristic algorithms in engineering problems will come together to talk about their experiences and discuss about the future of this field. The workshop will be extremely beneficial for young researchers in finding their way in this area which certainly will expand enormously in the coming years.
The official language of the workshop is English. The accepted papers will be published in a book, and also will be made available electronically. Selected papers will be published in international journals.
The workshop will take place at the heart of Istanbul, at a walking distance to Taksim Square and the famous Istiklal Street on one side and Nişantaşı, the elegant shopping area, on the other side. Social gatherings will be organized to create a friendly atmosphere among the participants.
