Dear Associates,
We are charmed to welcome you to the 2019 ESERA meeting in Bologna, Italy.
It is an amazing privilege for us to hold the most critical meeting on science instruction that we have in Europe. The first and last time that ESERA was sorted out in Italy was over twenty years prior, in 1997, in Rome.
The topic we have decided for this release is “The excellence and joy of comprehension: drawing in with contemporary difficulties through science training.”
We picked this subject for a few reasons. The first is that Bologna is viewed as a standout amongst the most wonderful colleges on the planet because of its chronicled structures. We trust that the excellence of the environment will rouse our examination and make a wonderful setting for the exchanges amid the gathering. The second reason is that we surmise that excellence can be motor of change, change and bona fide commitment in an inexorably perplexing world.
Environmental change, multiculturalism, the thriving of new interdisciplinary controls (like intellectual neuroscience, man-made consciousness, computerized humanities), and the risky idea of socio-logical issues in an advanced and post-truth period are only a couple of precedents of the contemporary difficulties that we will talk about amid the gathering. As science teachers, we trust that understanding is the favored method to address these difficulties, yet we additionally feel that they are so profound and novel that they require aggregately looking for new stories, dialects and types of excellence.
For all these reasons, we hope the theme can be intellectually stimulating, contributing to the creation of an overarching layer of reflection and infusing our discussions with a visionary spirit, projected into the future.
Inspired by the conference theme, we have selected four plenary presentations and a panel. Following the custom of previous years, the additional parallel sessions will include symposia, oral presentations, interactive poster sessions and workshops, organised according to the eighteen strands that characterise the richness of the research in the ESERA community.
Together with the Scientific and the Local Organising Committee, we are looking forward to seeing you in Bologna. We are working to create the conditions for a thoughtful and inspirational scientific environment, enriched by social events that will allow you to discover the magical atmosphere of the historical centre of Bologna.
