Mathematics without borders – 2014

Dear colleagues,

Congratulations to the participants in the Winter round of Mathematics without Borders Tournament. 7,074 students from 26 countries took part in it, all of them received certificates and the ones finished 1st to 3rd places – certificates and medals.
We are going to organize the Spring round of the I International Tournament “Mathematics without borders”.
On our webpage http://www.mathematicalmail.com you will find the rules of the tournament and the documents used for organising and conducting the tournament, as well as sample tests for each age group and all materials from the first round. For the first time this year in the competition can participate students from the first age group – those who are 8 years old in 2014.
The participation fee is €5 or $7 for each student. The money is used for: making of the tests, translation of the tests in English and Russian, printing the certificates of participation for each student and medals for the winners, postage fees and maintaining the website of the tournament. Details about the payment you will receive together with the tests and the answer key.
For the Spring round of the tournament please note the following deadlines:
By 10/04/2014 – all applicants must email (mat_stz@abv.bg) the filled in application form (http://mathematicalmail.com/category.php?id=21). We will accept late applications, if your students have school holidays and you are not able to organize their participation.
Immediately upon receipt of the application, the organisers will send the tests in Russian and English, as well as the answer key and the bank account details of the organizers, to the applicants.
The participating schools confirm with “OK” receipt of materials and sent if necessary, notes on problems.

On any day suitable for the school, between 21-27/04/2014, the schools will hold the competition.

Up to three days after the competition has been held, the schools must email the protocol with the results filled in (http://mathematicalmail.com/category.php?id=21) together with information about the participation fee, paid by bank transfer for the participants.

The ranking for the Spring round of the tournament will be announced on the website no later than 07/05/2014.

By 10/05/2014 – the organisers will send the certificates and medals for the winners.

The final round in Bulgaria will be held on June 21st, 2014.

Transfer to the hotel – Sunny Beach Resort.

June 19 – June 20, 2014:
A visit to the dolphinarium in the city of Varna.

Technical meeting;
Translation of the tests by the team leaders.

All participants are advised to arrange medical insurance by themselves for the duration of their stay in the Republic of Bulgaria.

All participants from different countries should:
1. Inform the organizer in advance of any specified dietary requirements or restrictions;
2.Prepare for a 5 minute presentation of their homeland during the Closing ceremony;
3. Complete visa procedures before arriving in Bulgaria.
